There are several items that can be obtained from objectives that do not serve a combat purpose. Collecting items is very important to both sides in the game.

Innocents want to get as many items as possible to use them against the terrors during the night period. You can loot three objective crates in each area.

The Infected would want to get or disable as many items as they can to make it harder for the Innocents to defend themselves during the night period.

An item can be disabled by destroying the objective crate. An objective can also be destroyed when it has been activated and a player is completing the objective.
